Left - 'Nessie' pays a visit. A Scottish brigade's tour of the country collecting for charities. This was a plastic monster fitted to a flatbed lorry. 'She' was able to 'snort' clouds of mist, courtesy of two hidden C02 (carbon di-oxide gas) cylinders.
Right - Harry Mason receives his 'Silver Axe' for being best recruit on the last course.
Bottom - Fireboat (old one at South Shields) is relocated to a new berth on the River Tyne.
