ABBEY TAXI (formerly known as Taxi Gallery) is a neighbourhood landmark and shelter for information, conversation and exchange. Artist, Kirsten Lavers is the onsite caretaker and welcomes proposals from local and translocal participants.

ABBEY TAXI currently operates a MAGNETIC MESSAGES service, provides free WiFi access to all its visitors and hosts occasional events, screenings, exhibitions, installations, performances and seasonal displays.

Taxi Gallery was a project initiated by artist, Kirsten Lavers. It set out to provide a supportive opportunity for artists wishing to make work for the particular context that it offered and was committed to an extended conversation with local and translocal audiences in response to a broad range of artworks, approaches and ideas.

After over 30 exhibitions since September 2002, Taxi Gallery closed in November 2005.
