Many problems with TMPGEnc can be fixed with setting the priorities of the
VFAPI plug-in. you may need to adjust these settings each time you use a
different file source. These adjustments are different on each PC, you
need to experiment on your own machine to obtain good results and fault
free settings.
Select Option > Environmental Setting

Displays a list of the VFAPI plug-in that have been registered with
TMPGEnc.

The use of a particular plug-in is selected by the check box on the left
of the plug-in. Because many of the VFAPI plug-in's use a file's extension
to decide if a plug-in is appropriate for a certain file, you need to set
the priority of that plug-in so that a file isn't serviced by more than
one plug-in.
Right click on a plug-in and select one of the fallowing;

Increase Priority, Increase the use precedence for a plug-in.
Decrease Priority, Decrease the use precedence for a plug-in
Select All, Enable all of the plug-in.
Unselect All, Disable all of the plug-in.
Reset to recommended setting, Reset all setting to default
Faults with TMPGEnc
File Preview
This will show a preview of the video, but it has no audio.
Setting > Audio > Use audio Edit > Setting > Play
This will let you hear the sound.
Some of the problems experienced by people are, the encoded home movie not
having any video (Black screen) or not having any audio. The preview's
window will show if the function is working. Or click start, then stop
after a few minuets and test output.
The most common fault is the DirectShow Multimedia file reader,
increase its priority to see if it cures your problem. This is the main
cure for output with no video or audio. If you are converting a Mpeg 2,
then the priorities of the Mpeg 2 plug-in should be increased, this would
normally be Ligos, Cyberlink or Sony
If you find that TMPGEnc crashes as soon as you hit start, you should
disable all plug-ins and switch them back on one at a time to see which
one might be causing the problem. If the crash happens sometime during
encode, this could be a problem with Junk Frames, and not TMPGEnc.
