The Good Food Project funded by Sure Start and the Childrens Fund

In July and August some of our volunteers have been involved in a project with Sure Start at the Daneshouse and Stoneyholme Community Centre. This project involved children and adults working together to educate young people in preparing and eating healthy food. It was also an opportunity to enable different cultures to mix and exchange ideas. Over 4 days a combination of traditional English and Asian dishes were prepared and enjoyed by both the children and the volunteers.

Ladies and gentlemen from the Asian community along with assistance from some of the ladies from our luncheon clubs have exchanged cooking skills and helped the children to learn in a practical and fun way. The project was both fun and informative and all who took part really enjoyed it. We hope to work together again in the near future. Lots of friends were made and we are hoping to build on this to pave the way for future activities. Thanks to everyone at Daneshouse and Stoneyholme Community Centre for making us so welcome. .
