PDQ League
Alex Young picking up League Awards from Mark Illott

The PDQ League averages have been released and make very good reading for West Mersea to cap a fine season. The Division One bowling averages saw Alex Young top the averages with 26 wickets at an average of 10.77. First XI skipper Darren Rumble finished a creditable 3rd.
The second eleven saw Trevor Vince and Tom Sanderson finish 6th and 7th in the Division Three bowling averages, whilst Mel Hughes' record breaking season with the gloves saw him become the first keeper in the league to make 15 dismissals. The second's also finished as Third Division Runners Up, whilst the first team were recently awarded joint winners with Great Bromley of the Division One Fair Play award, unfortunatley it does not gain us European entry next season !

The 2007 PDQ Cup draw saw West Mersea drawn at home to second division Lexden on Sunday 6th May in the Preliminary Round, with a trip to the winners of Chappel & Wakes Colne or Great Horkesley in the First Round on the first Sunday in June. Cup holders Halstead entertain Great Bromley in the First Round, whilst the 2006 Runners Up Eight Ash Green will have to overcome Division Three Tendring in the Preliminary Round, before taking on the unknown strength of Colchester & East Essex in the First Round proper. Four first division sides occupy places in the top half of the draw, with six in the bottom half including Halstead, Gallywood, Abberton and West Bergholt.

Two Counties League
Two Counties cricket comes to West Mersea for the first time in 2007 after their admittance into the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties League in October. The side will play in Division Nine, with the ground breaking opening fixture being against Kesgrave at The Glebe on Saturday 12th May. All the games will be played on Saturday's and we hope to use some of our players on the periphery, as well as players who wish to play more than one game a weekend. There will be plenty of interesting trips in our debut season with games against the likes of Brockley, Haverhill, Sudbury and Maldon....thankfully against their second and third elevens.
