Mrs Trish Clarke started her baking venture five years ago and can now make anything her customers require. For a 21st birthday cake, for example, she was asked to make a '21 bum salute' and, voila, a cake with 21 edible, cheeky bottoms form a pyramid of icing and sponge.
Trish's most recent success was The Dustbin Family Portrait which took
a silver award at The Sugarcraft and Cake Decoration Show at the NEC in
October.
It took an exhaustive 12 hours to make with the idea coming from the dustbins with arms and legs she had painted next to the real ones in her back yard.
Firstly, Trish put her thoughts on paper and then began looking at
the rubbish in her bins so that she could include them (in icing form)
in the cake.
The cake is going to be put to good use in a raffle to raise funds for Barwell's Newlands County Primary School where her son Daniel is a pupil.
There are always people who contact Trish despite having no idea what they want for their friend or family member.
"You go through things with people and then you decide", explained Trish.
"They might like photography but you always find there's something you can do for people. But I like doing the comical ones best."
"With one cake a woman had been to Nepal and painted a mountain range
there and so I incorporated that in to the cake with the easel and the
mountains using edible paint."
"A lot of them have got stories behind them and it makes the cake much more individual!"
There are so many cakes to choose from, with Trish specialising in children's, adults' and naughty adult cakes which are always very popular.
