James married Sarah Mallett on 3 Apr 1809 in St. Peter Mancroft, Norwich. (Sarah Mallett was born in 1789 and died in 1826 in Wroxham, Norfolk.)

James next married Elizabeth Pye in 1827 in Wroxham, Norfolk. (Elizabeth Pye was born in 1808 in Marsham, Norfolk.)
