Introduction

This site displays our respective family trees together with other miscellaneous records. Details of people still living have been excluded unless permission has been given to include them. The genealogy of the direct line of both families has been verified through BDM certificates, census returns and parish registers and should be accurate. Some of the branches have not been so rigorously checked. Most of the genealogical information is in the public domain but anyone using the data is advised to check and verify the details, it is possible inaccuracies and errors in transcription have been made.

Stanford

The Stanford side of the family come from the Blofield area of Norfolk. My mother's maiden name was Knight and come from Denton, Northamptonshire.

Blyth

Family lore is that the Blyth side of the family are descended from the Blyths' of Yetholm in the Scottish Borders, unfortunately we have so far only been able to verify back to Juli's great grandfather born at Choppington, Northumberland. Her mother's maiden name is Catterick and they originate from the North Riding of Yorkshire.

Acknowlegements

Norman Tew has a very comprehensive listing of WOODING names from Yardley Hastings on his web site http://www.tech2u.com.au/~normtew/ from which most of my information was gathered. He also has a comprehensive listing of HILLYARD names from Roade. Heather Cotton also provided a lot of information on the HILLYARDs of Roade. Most of census information for Northamptonshire was provide by Alan Clarke, see his web site at http://www.northants1841.fsnet.co.ukwhere he has information on the 1841, 1851 and 1871 censuses. This site is an invaluable source of genealogical information for Northamptonshire.

Other Links

My father was born at Blofield, Norfolk and this site has a brief local history page and a few old photographs. The doun org site has transcriptions from many parish registers, censuses and other documents and is invaluable to anyone researching Norfolk names. Entries from the Birth, Death and Marriage [BDM] indexes are available from the FreeBDM web site. New entries are added at regular intervals. An index of names from the Norfolk 1891 census is available from Paddy Apling's web site. To display my family tree I have used Dynamic Family Tree Compiler [Dft2Com] available as free download from www.linktop.demon.co.uk.
