WhyZone is an independent educational community web site maintained for your personal use and viewing. Access and use by you of this web site constitutes acceptance by you of these Terms and Conditions that take effect from the date of first use.

The WhyZone web site has been designed and built primarily for use in the United Kingdom using Internet browsers version 4 and above. Whilst the site may be viewed from outside of the United Kingom, the content is specifically restricted to the U.K.

We reserve the right to revise the Terms of Use at any time, without notice and you hereby agree to be bound by such changes.

The Terms of Use are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of England and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England to settle any dispute that may arise.


Advertising Policy  

There are three main categories of people for whom this site has been primarily produced:

  • Teachers, parents and other adults
  • Young people aged 15-19 (Key Stage 4 and 5 in schools and colleges)
  • Young people aged 11-14 (Key Stage 3 in school)

and every effort has been made to ensure that advertising links contained in this site are appropriate for all users. The links are a necessary means of covering the site's overheads.

Users of the site are advised to read the terms and conditions of advertisers carefully when responding to advertisements. Please read the Disclaimer section below.

Please inform us of any site to which we are linked that you consider to be inappropriate and we shall immediately look into the matter further.

Please note that some advertisers do require that respondents are aged 18 or over. See the notes headed eBay and Under 18? below for more information.


eBay 

You have to be at least 18 years old to buy and sell through eBay because eBay is available only to individuals who can form legally binding contracts under English Law. If you are under the age of 18, you should not use eBay unless under the direct supervision of parents or carers.


Under 18? 

Young people (aged under 18) are advised to always consult a parent or carer before responding to any advertisement and then to do so only in conjunction with and under their parent or carer's supervision.

WhyZone does not however accept responsibility or liability for any loss incurred by users as a result of downloading files. It is the user's responsibility to check all files downloaded from the website for viral infection before opening them on their PC. If in doubt then do not download or open a file.


Images 

All images displayed in WhyZone serve as links to external sites.

Every effort has been made to ensure that there is no breach of copyright.

Our policy is to:

1) Use only images obtained from www.wikipedia.com when the purpose is for illustration purposes. We check all such images against Wikipedia's online copyright restriction records to ensure that any such restrictions are not breached. We only use images where such restrictions have been lifted and/or the image has been placed in the 'public domain'.

2) Use corporate logos only as links to the external website concerned. Such use is not intended to denote external website approval of the content of WhyZone.

3) Use images obtained from third party websites only as links to the external websites concerned. Such use is not intended to denote external website approval of the content of WhyZone.

4) Use only images submitted by contributors to WhyZone within the bounds of the content submitted. What information we collect

We collect personal information from you through any enquiry forms that you complete. We also collect information automatically each time you visit the site. This information, which includes parts of the site visited, is only used as aggregate information, not as individual information.

What we do with personal information

We also use the aggregate information about visitors' site usage patterns to enable us to see how popular different parts of the site are with our visitors, helping us decide how best to further develop the site.
