About us

Our Mission:

+ To provide time-saving one-stop easy access for students and teachers (in secondary and tertiary education) to the most relevant and stimulating interactive teaching and learning materials on the web.

+ The site is being developed by teachers to help the wider educational community whilst also promoting their own educational services.

+ If you are a teacher (whether serving, retired, part-time, or on a career break) or know of a teacher who would like to get involved, then contact us to discuss how we can help.

Our goals:

+Help students and teachers share learning activities and rssources.

+ Help make teaching and learning as stimulating, easy and stress-free as possible.

+ Help enhance teacher and student performance through the provision of interactive learning materials.

+ Help save time for teachers and students by scouring the web for useful links and packaging these in a structured, relevant and easily accessible way.

+ Help increase the opportunities for learning outside as well as inside the traditional classroom.

+ Help students become more resourceful and independent.

+ To be one of the premier educational web sites in th UK within five years.

Our vision:

+ WhyZone was established by Wynchcote Virtual Learning Solutions to serve the needs and wants of the greater educational community.

+ Wynchcote's founder, Ken Edwards, believes that the powerful potential benefits for teachers and students alike since the arrival of the world wide web have still not been fully realised.

+ Ken believes that these benefits are the synergy* waiting to be released through the interaction of the many disparate providers of educational services on the web and their users (teachers and learners).

+ Search engines like Google.co.uk and Answers.com (highly recommended and used by WhyZone) are important but unfortunately do not always bring providers and users together through a one-stop easy access 'learning hub'.

+ Ken sees the web like a large hypermarket providing an overwhelming amount of choice, but knows as an experienced teacher that ever-increasing pressures in the school environment mean that you need to be able to go straight to the product when you need it!

+ WhyZone is an attempt to address this need on the part of hard-pressed students and teachers.

*Synergy

"The interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects."
