Thursday 28th September
Well, alot of things have happened, and then again not alot has happened!
After the startup I sorted out a few things that needed to be done but then it was a waiting game to
get a spot with the painter. That waiting game turned out to be a long time as it didn't go away to be
painted until 9th July 2005. Unfortunately it was not local to where I live so that put me in the
position of not really being able to keep an eye on what was going on. The guy who was doing the job
was a guy called
Phil Parker. I should have
realised that there maybe a concern with his abilities when I took this photo of him looking at the work
that needed doing...
It wasn't long before things went down hill. Apparently his wife suffered a brain tumour, depresseion,
and was allegedly trying to commit suicide on a regular basis. Unfortnately for me, money had already
parted (to help cashflow and all that crap). Weeks turned into months and work was not being done.
What work was being done was being done in a strange order (not conisdered until after all the trouble
blew up). Anyway, to help things along some friends and I decide to go up and do some work to help him
along and get things moving. It was at this point when he started disappearing. Without going into too
much detail, things went down hill until the point where I pulled my car out. I should like to mention
that this so called Viper genius was not just doing my car but Howard Bradleys too! Of course, Howards
car went at the same time as my own.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, the cars went to another chap in the local area. There, a group of
us worked on the cars doing as much as possible ourselves. This photo shows the crowd on a well earned tea break. The only person missing was Martin
(tinka to his crc friends) and me who was behind the camera. From left to right is Howard, Steve (the
second painter), Murdo and Peter. Without these guys I don't think I would ever have got my car back.
But now it is back and there is loads of work to do. There are still problems with the paintwork and
to be honest the doors and bonnet both need doing again. The reast of the car... well, that will have to
do for now. I'm just cladding the final bit's of the engine bay and the suspension will hopefully be
finally sorted this weekend. Will post an update as soon as it is.
