William Peckover

 A little research revealed that there was indeed a William Peckover on the Bounty. He was the Bounty gunner and Senior Warrant Officer and served on all of Capt. Cook's three voyages. He spoke perfect Tahitian and had an enormous knowledge of Tahitian culture and was therefore placed in charge of all trading activities there

During the mutiny he was one of the first officers to be confined early to below deck. He accompanied Capt.Bligh when they were put off ship by Fletcher Christian and his mutineers.

In 1792 Commodore Pasley, defending one of the mutineers, indicated that he was going to contact Peckover who at the time was living in Woolwich.

A search of Land Tax Records in 1785-89 shows Peckover living , appropriately enough, in Gun Alley, Wapping, East London.
