KB Automotive Racing History
Before KB Automotive
Kevin Bull founded KB Automotive in 2002 but before this he had many years of involvment in motor racing.
In The Beginning
Since the middle of 2002 KB Automotive Racing has been preparing race cars for circuit racing. KB Automotive's founder, Kevin Bull
already had many years of experience building and preparing Westfield and Caterham sportscars for racing and later worked for Taylors Foundry Motorsport
as chief mechanic on a Marcos LM600 racing in the British GT championship.
In June 2002 Kevin started KB Automotive and immediately put his experience to use prepare an MGF for Stuart Plotnek to race in the MG Owners Club
Championship. The first race for the car was the 1 hour, 2 driver race at Snetterton. Stuart and Kevin would both drive the car and use this race
for development purposes to get the car ready for a full season in 2003. As it turned out, they qualified the car on pole position and won the race!
From that first race KB Automotive Racing was born and over the following years many pole positions, lap records, races and championships have been won
by cars prepared by KB Automotive Racing. We have established ourselves as one of the most respected race teams for the preparation of MG Rover race cars.
Here is a taster of some of the cars, drivers and acheivements of KB Automotive Racing over the past few years.
2003
KB Automotive Racing's first full season in MGF racing in the MG Owners Club Championship
2004
KB Automotive Racing runs MGFs for a second year in MG Owners Club and also runs a Caterham Roadsport in the 750 Motor Club Championship
2005
This year KB Automotive Racing is running MGFs and MG ZRs in the MG Owners Club Championship. The team has also built an MG ZR Endurance
race car which it is running in the EERC Britcar Endurance Race Series.
2006
This was set to be the biggest year yet for KB Automotive Racing. After the 24 hour race in 2005 Gary Smith and Stuart Plotnek
had been bitten by the endurance racing bug. Over the winter another ZR was built and the team would run 2 cars in the Britcar series.
The original car would be driven by Kelly-Anne Smith and Sarah Bennett-Baggs. The new car would be driven by Gary & Stuart.
KB Automotive Racing would also be running another new MG ZR in the CSCC Tin Tops series for Dave Mellor and selected races in the
MG Owners Club championship in the MGFs.
