The SSTAR Network

A Service Users Guide

This site is currently under development!

This site is about The Salford Support Time and Recovery Network, a network of social drop-ins and activity groups for people with mental health or emotional problems.

People with these problems used to go to mental health day centres where they would take part in activities after leaving places such as Meadowbrook Hospital.

Some of these day centres have been shut down and replaced with activities based in mainstream, social centres such as Gateway Centres, church halls and youth clubs.

The Network (as it is known to service users) is run by GMW Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. STR workers are employed to organise activities and to encourage service users to become volunteers who will learn to run groups themselves.
