I come
from Christchurch, a little tourist town on the south coast of England.
As a child, I always loved theatre; my role as the 'grumpy innkeeper' in
the school nativity play, aged 6, is often brought up at family
gatherings. They always knew I'd be a drama queen!
I have tried my hand at writing the odd panto and singing and acting,
but at college I decided I wanted to be part of the technical crew. I
encountered resistance, being a girl, so I volunteered at my local arts
centre, to have a go and learn. Then I was needed in the college tech
crew after all. Ha ha! Revenge is sweet.
I came to study at the RSAMD in Glasgow, and have now graduated,
specializing in Stage Management. My first role at college was ASM on
the Marriage of Figaro, where my wonderful Stage Manager told me that we
were 'guardian angels' to the performers. How true. I never forgot her
words of wisdom, and put my wings to action every show! How fantastic to
be paid for something you love doing.
I enjoy working on Opera, Musicals, and lots of plays, particularly
Shakespeare.
My hobbies include going to see as many productions as possible,
watching films, going out with my friends, reading, swimming, and being
arty with bits of paper.
I am also a
Guide Leader in my spare time. Yeah I know what you're thinking, 'dib
dib dob dob'- except they phased that out in the 70s- well before I was
born, so get over it! Guiding is cool and updated- to prove it, there is
an enormous waiting list of kids waiting to join, because we don't have
enough volunteer adult leaders.
I would like
to do loads of traveling in the future, whether with work or with
friends. |
