Eastwood is situated 8.5 miles from Nottingham, and 11 miles from Derby. Access is from the A610 Nottingham to Ripley road, which by-passes the town to the south, or from the A608 Derby to Mansfield road. Car parks in the vicinity of the library and the birthplace museum are signposted from Nottingham Road.

There is also a large car park to the rear of the Sun Inn public house, near to the Safeway supermarket. Parking is also available at Durban House Heritage Centre on Mansfield Road. (see town centre map, right, for more details)

For travel throughout the Eastwood area by bus, try the ZigZag ticket from Trent and Barton Buses which allows a days unlimited travel after 09:00 by Trent or Barton buses in the area. Visit Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield and Matlock with just the one ticket. £3.50 for an adult, with an accompanying child travelling for £1.75. You can purchase this ticket on any Trent or Barton bus service.

If you wish to travel further afield, or before 09:00, a seperate ZigZag ticket is available for only £5.95.

Buses from Nottingham to Eastwood start from the Victoria bus station in the city centre (approximately 1 mile from the railway station); the journey time is about 40 minutes. From Langley Mill, buses to Eastwood pass the railway station: the journey time from here is about 6 minutes. Timetable information and route maps can be found on Trent's website at the link below.

The nearest railway station is one mile away at Langley Mill. Services run south to Nottingham and beyond, and north to Chesterfield, Sheffield and beyond. For travel in Derbyshire, try the Derbyshire Wayfarer ticket - sponsored by Derbyshire County Council. This is an all day travel ticket allowing unlimited travel on most bus and rail services in Derbyshire. It is also valid for journies to and from Eastwood into Derbyshire. The group ticket is exceptional value for families, costing £12 for up to two adults and three children.
