Eastwood Volunteer Bureau, (EVB), is a local charity, which provides free, independent advice on voluntary work opportunities to local residents. Any local, national or international charity needing volunteers can also contact the Bureau to ask for their help in finding people for a wide range of activities.

The Bureau is keen to hear from anyone living in the area who has some spare time and would like to find out the opportunities available. Various other activities are run by EVB including:

  • Unwanted furniture is collected and given to local people who are unable to buy their own.
  • Volunteer drivers use their own cars to take people who can't use public transport to the shops, doctors, lunch clubs etc.
  • Other volunteers visit older people who are on their own or read to people with a visual impairment.
  • A quarterly newsheet is produced and distributed free of charge to local organisations and EVB's volunteers.
  • The Broxtowe Help Directory, which includes information on over 400 organisations providing advice, information and help to residents of Broxtowe Borough, is produced by EVB.
  • Advice is given to some local groups on possible sources of funding etc.
  • Relevant training courses are arranged for volunteers and management committee members of local groups.
  • Various other projects are carried out throughout the year e.g. shopping trips for people with disabilities at Xmas.
