17. Watford - England - The High Street Market in 1880

This is the original site of Watford Market, in the High Street, taken in 1880. It was held here since the town was given a market charter in the reign of Henry I (1100-1135), until 1928, when if was moved to a new site.

The photo shows the Tuesday market, selling mainly livestock, with a general market held on Saturdays. It was taken near position 9 in green on the map.
