Version History
04/08/2003: v0.3
-
Added the SECOND password option. This is to provide an optional extra layer of security by restricting access when opening or editing the file. Now the creator of a file can specify a password (known only to them and which they can remember), plus they can specify a name to be displayed so that anyone else trying to open the file will know who set the password.
20/7/2003: v0.2
- Improved the system registry check on program start-up, and added the option to move the program to a better location.
- Newly created files open in the editor instead of trying to open a 'blank' URL. Made sure that the only way to open the editor is by opening or 'editing' an 'FTP Shortcut Settings' file (created via the 'New' menu, located in the popup (right-click) menu from the Desktop or any open folder, or from the 'File' menu in any open folder).
- To avoid any confusion, the folder browser has been removed at the stage when 'Save Shortcut' is clicked, so now it just saves to the same location as the file that was opened. If anyone wants this back I could make it a changeable option. Removed the edit box for the shortcut name (and corresponding label) from the editor, and made the shortcut name appear in the title bar of the editor. This was done to simplify it so that the editor could only save the shortcut that was opened and not create new ones by changing the name.
19/7/2003: v0.1
- Completed the basic operation of the program.
Future Developments
I intend to add a 'check for updates' feature, so that if there are any further developments then you will be able to click on a button (probably in the 'About' window) to check if there's a new version and it will download the newer version (if there is one) and install it.
Besides making it a standalone FTP client as well (just a possiblity), I can't think of anything I could add, so you're suggestions would be welcome.
Bugs, Comments and Suggestions
This program was written using Delphi 6. Running on Windows XP Home with IE6 and all the latest patches installed. So far I haven't noticed any problems with it as it uses only basic Windows functions, so I assume it works with older or newer versions but I can't be sure of any bugs YOU may have without your feedback!
If you find a bug, please email me, and I will see if I can rectify it. The same goes for any suggestions you might have to enhance it.
