I feel that this partnership is worth a special mention. They are both now in my advanced clicker training class.Barbara and Molly, the Sealyham Terrier came along for training in the puppy class when she was about 16 weeks old.
Right from the start Barbara had her hands full! Molly was extremely lively, stubborn and dominant to say the least!
She was a fussy eater, hated to be groomed and nipped if you tried, did not like going for a walk and generally tried to get her own way most of the time!
Some would have given in - but not Barbara and her family. They all steadily persevered and little by little Molly began to respond. She was a very clever little girl and loved learning tricks best of all! Obedience came second but even there she slowly started to behave.
Over the weeks Molly began to respond and now 8 months later she is a delightful young lady. She is groomed without a murmur, eats what she is given, walks out and her obedience has come on by leaps and bounds.
Barbara has been able to enter her in Breed Show Competition and she is doing great! So much so that she is now eligible for Crufts!
For all her hard work I felt Barbara should be singled out for a special mention and on the last night of the current session I presented her with a High Achievement Award for her considerable efforts! Here is a photo of them both with their trophy.
The moral of this story is that once your dog knows their place, what you expect of them and how to behave they become happy members of your family and human society! A little effort can go a long way!!!
