Well sally had one or two hicups at first but with time and training has now become the lovable little terror we knew she could be, she has settaled into home life and is truly on of us.Training will be light as she now only needs to be told once and gets the idea so quick.
More later.....
Vinnie, the Webmaster of this site adopted a Jack Russell cross called Indy as you will know if you have read the articles about her. She is a lovely dog and very bright so being a glutton for punishment Vinnie and his family decided they would take on a second rescue dog needing a good home.
Enter Sally! She came from the RSPCA and the previous owner had given her up at five months of age because as they lived in a second floor flat with no lift they found great difficulty in house training her (not everyone has the time and patience for this unfortunately).
What is she? Well I think she is a cairn terrier crossed with a dachshund. A tiny bundle of fun with the cutest little face you have ever seen! I am sure a career in films will beckon at a later date!
Completely different from Indy and needing a lot more training. Little puddles on the carpet being the main problem! Also like Twiggy she made a nuisance of herself with Indy and chased the cat!!!!!!
Consternation in the Franklin household but nothing that clicker training and patience will sort out. Vinnie has taught me everything I know about the computer and I get the chance to do the same back about dog training so after devising a 'game plan' things are beginning to look up and her house training is improving daily.
Indy will eventually put her in her place but they need to sort out the status quo between themselves and I am sure they will. The bigger, stronger dog will not necessarily be the one to come out on top!
Indy will also be starting agility training soon and I know she will love it! Sally's little legs may be just a little too short for it but then she has time to grow a bit more! She can certainly jump though!
All mine and Vinnie's dogs are rescues. I think they give you more than those you go out and purchase but then I know I am biased!!!!!!!!! Further updates will follow as things progress.
