Gran Turismo By Numbers Spot Races

The Spot race series has been going on for quite a while and is now up past the 50 mark.  Each week one person assigns the challenge, and all are welcome to take part.  After a week everyone sends in their times and the loser gets to be the steward and set the race for the next week.

Description

WasteGate's File

LXXXVI

With limited suspension adjustment, the Vauxhall VX220 was always going to be difficult to get the most out of, especially at a swooping Deep Forest.

WG was the winner from GT3mich, the two GTBN old stagers beating NeilsG from GT Planet.

LXXXV

A tuning race, with the winner to be the fastest to drive the 617bhp Lotus around Special Stage R11.  A tricky challenge with the weak brakes of the Lotus.

WG was the winner with 76brick just pipping Womble for second.

LXXXIV

"Are You There".  Running the Zexel Skyline around a hotlap with settings as used by Kimi_R in the GTRC Lite.

The top two places went to Dango and eggmann with WasteGate third.

LXXXI

The main race was for Tuscans fitted with port polish, FEB, lightweight3 and T8s racing Arcade/Hard around Deep Forest.  The extra race was the same, but with the hardest tyres you could win it with.

T8s    T3s

LXXX

"Ultralightweight Cars".  A single hotlap around the Cote d'Azur track with one of three cars; the Mini Cooper 1.3i, the Suzuki Alto Works or the Diahatsu Cuore Avanzato R.

The top two places went to the Diahatsus of Wastegate and Santiago22, with Eggmann third in a Mini.

LXXIX

"Runs In The Family".  A two part race, one hotlap at Deep Forest with the roadcar of the pair and one at Trial Mountain with the race/rally car.  Everyone used different cars, which was nice.

GT3mich took the win with the MR-Ses from 76brick and the Silvias and rikki with the Clios.

LXXVIII

"Not the Usual Suspects".  A hotlap around the dreaded Complex String.  The choice of cars was limited with many of the favourites ruled out and a 3.000 weight/power limit imposed.

WasteGate and Tuscan S took the top spots with the Lotus Esprit 350, with Dango taking third with the unlikely Camaro SS.

LXXVII

"Two Worlds".  A two part race, one dry with the Jaguar XKR for 5 laps around Tokyo, the other wet with a Honda Civic around SSR5 reverse, again 5 laps.

76brick took another spot race win by 0.656 from WasteGate and Santiago22.

LXXII

"Who's got the fastest garage".  A whacky two part race, where drivers had to drive the fastest car in their garage for 5 laps around Trial Mountain and their slowest car for 5 laps around TM2.

A win for player2 with Sly9 and Roland filling out the podium, even though player2 was easily the slowest.

LXXI

"Race of new generation sports".  The fastest overall time wins with the Yaris 1.5RS and the Altezza RS200 around Midfield2 and Deep Forest respectively.  The cars were standard apart from Sports tyres.

The steward, Santiago22 won this race from WasteGate and HareTurtle.

"Road and race battle".  Drivers had to hotlap a road car and a race car from a manufacturers range around Trial Mountain reverse.  The only cars entered were Honda NSXs, Toyota Supras and TVR Speed6/12s.

The Speed of the TVRs saw their three drivers, WasteGate, 76brick and Tuscan S dominate the podium.

LXIX

"More bang for your bucks".  Two 3 lap races with a budget of 50,000 credits, one at Rome and the other at Monaco.

American cars to the fore with a win for WasteGate in a Mustang, followed by Tuscan S in a Corvette Z-28 and 76brick with a Lancer EVO VII.

"Screwing the cork".  A 10 lap arcade race in the Jaguar XJ220 road car, with a heavy restriction on practice.

Pariah won this, from GT3mich and Eggmann.

LXI

"Hamburger Hill".  A 10 lap race around Apricot Hill with a selection of cars in a specified state of tune.

WasteGate won this in a TVR Griffith, from GT3mich and Eggmann who both used the Zonda.

LX

A simple hotlap using the Arcade Calsonic Skyline at Special Stage R5.

A star-studded and large field for this race, with Dango taking a masterful win from EasyEd and WG.

LIX

"Rain Made All The Difference"  The glorious Mitsubishi FTO LM in a dry/wet race run by VB.  The dry was 3 laps at Tokyo 246 on T5 tyres, and the damp track was simulated by having T2 tyres.

WasteGate won the event from Ubiquitous and GT3mich.

Dry    Damp

LVIII

"American Avant Guarde".  An absolute monster of a Spot Race with 2 lap runs of Seattle and Seattle Reverse in both the Arcade Pagani Zonda Race Car, and the Sim Zonda Race Car - fully modified.

Overall a win for WasteGate due to some quick times at Seattle Reverse, but he was outpaced by GT3mich and Player2 at Seattle.

Seattle Arcade

Seattle(R) Arcade

Seattle Sim

Seattle(R) Sim

LVII

Arcade Panoz Esperante hotlaps around Midfield and Midfield Reverse.  I find the Esperante to be a horrible understeer-prone tug.

A win for Player2 from Ubiquitous and Womble with WasteGate forgetting to enter, and failing to match P2 anyway.

Midfield    Midfield II

LVI

"Saturday Night With The Miata Club".  Mazda MX5 1.8 RS(J) for 10 laps around SSR11.  The car had to have Normal tyres on the rear and Simulation tyres on the front.  Sports suspension, a ROM upgrade and a Sports exhaust were the only modifications.

WasteGate finished second with a time of 24'31.759 to Dango's 24'28.426

LV

"Twelve Cylinder Heaven". A qualifying lap and a 10 lap race in a fully modified TVR Speed 12 on hard tyres.  Heaven?

Sukerkin's choice of the hardest tyres on the rear cost him the hotlap and fastest lap in the race, but gave him the win when WG's tyres went off.
