There are several good supermarkets within 10 minutes drive. If you arrive on a Saturday night, there are only two open on a Sunday - the English Supermarket at Javea Park, which is open all day, and Saladar, on the back road to Cabo La Nao. Saladar is open from 9-9 in season, but only until 1pm on Sunday when it is very busy. They bake fresh bread and pastries daily and it has a lovely little bar where you can sit and watch the world go by!
Mas y Mas on the beachfront is cheaper for booze - they do wines out of the barrel so you can fill up litre bottles! Mercadona in the Old Town is massive - it has a fabulous fish counter and sells almost everything, and has a large car park as well as being near bus stops.
There is a market in the town every Thursday morning which has fruit, veg, nuts etc. as well as loads of stalls selling clothes, shoes, jewellery, leather, kitchen equipment and gifts. It's sited on the town car park so it's best to park outside the town or get a taxi that day! There is also a lovely covered market next to the church in the town, which sells locally produced food.
The beach front has many shops selling clothes, shoes and gifts, plus a pharmacy. Should you need a doctor, Doctor Poole is in the Clinica on the main road which turns to the left opposite the BBV Bank. He speaks English. There is a local paper called the Costa Blanca News which is worth buying as it has phone numbers of doctors, emergency services etc., but there should be a list of numbers on the mantelpiece.
