There are always plenty of exhibitions, concerts etc., usually in the old town or port area - check the Costa Blanca News or ask at the Tourist Office for details. There are also many beautiful churches around the area and a cathedral on the hill above the port.

Anyone interested in nature should take a walk over Montgo (although making the summit is not for the faint-hearted). As well as an abundance of wild herbs, flowers and animals there is a trail of natural crystals and small fossils, but it is a designated nature reserve so you are not allowed to remove any of them!

In addition to these pursuits, Javea and the surrounding area boasts golf, tennis, horse riding and other sports, and less than an hour's drive will take you to Aqualandia or the Terra Mitica theme park outside Benidorm. Javea's two 18-hole golf courses are within minutes of La Quinta.

The Jalon Valley is slightly inland and is a wine producing area dotted with typical Spanish restaurants, whilst Guadalest is a spectacular cliff top settlement.
