Euphyllia paradivisa

This animal was a gift from a friend and at the time had three heads. It has since grown many new heads and I have had to dispose of two large branches because the tentacles were starting to affect the nearby Acropora.

Bourneman says (Bourneman E.H., Aquarium Corals Selection, husandry, and Natural History;p.308) "In the aquarium, Euphyllia are good water quality monitors.------- their failure to show good polyp expansion can indicate less-than-perfect water parameters".

I have been delighted with this animal and its growth rate but it was really becoming too large for its position and it was this, as much as anything, that persuaded me to change my small tank to a Euphyllia tank.

After fragging to provide extra stock it became the centrepiece in its new environment.
