The Echinopora on the left has become far more convoluted in the right picture and has room to progress further upwards.
Interestingly the bottom right "leaf" of the Ecninopora in the right picture has grown as a response to the encroachment of the Montepora capricornis.
When the growing edges of the two corals first met they did battle and both started to suffer. After a week or two they both started to call it a day and to protect themselves by growing away from each other.
This animal has now formed a handsome colony.

On the substrate, to the right of the gorgonian, a frag from the main colony.
