Kia Orana!
I'm John Roberts and this has been the most difficult part of the web site to create because it's about me rather than the Cook Islands! It's probably the least interesting too, so maybe you should just click the back button. But if you insist on being nosey.......
For more than 20 years, I worked as a journalist, first on newspapers and then in radio and television. I spent most of that time at the BBC in the United Kingdom where I reported and presented for local, national and world service radio, and regional and national television news. I've interviewed stars, royalty, Mrs Thatcher (!) and a lot of other people who were far more interesting!!! I also have the dubious honour of breaking the news to Australia and the Pacific about one of the worst air disasters in the UK.
Now I work in I.T. for one of the UK's biggest banks, but I'm not a "teckie". This is the first web site I've designed, so I hope all the experts out there will forgive me for any dodgy design. I still love writing and the written word, and this web site has given me a chance to explore a new medium. My home is more than 11,000 miles away from the Cook Islands in a small village in Cheshire, which is in the north of England.
My purpose in creating this site was simple: to pay tribute to a place of outstanding beauty, warm and genuine people and a lifestyle that the rest of the world can only envy. That's the Cook Islands. I hope you enjoy exploring it through this site...and I hope one day you can experience it for yourself.
