Gizmondo Central YouTube Channel
In keeping with
the times and to let some readers view the Gizmondo games in action,
I've started a Gizmondo Central YouTube channel, which over time
will hopefully add every Gizmondo game released or unreleased in
video.
The videos are
only roughly 3 minutes long, so I'll try not to bore you with the
same gameplay over and over! They also include annotations of mini
reviews that are included on this site.
The site can be
found here, feel free to have a look and leave a comment!
I've cut into my already low margins to
lower the prices of the Gizmondo books, now's your chance to pick up
these great reads for their lowest prices yet, also don't forget
lulu.com also have money off vouchers from time to time from 10-30%
off, keep an eye on their website or the forum link below if I post
some voucher codes.
Here's the new reduced prices for summer 2012,
enjoy!

Meet the family!
In what is
probably the last post regarding the Gizmondo book. Today I received
my hardback edition, so I'd thought I'd show a photo of the family
of Gizmondo book editions.
(Left to Right -
Hardback, Paperback, Kindle, Kindle via Mobile)
I've been beavering away to bring you
more versions of the book, to give every possible way of viewing this book that's the easiest for you.
We now have a
hardback edition too, although it doesn't come cheap at £21.99 which
is the lowest price I could bring it too you, the book itself is slightly
larger than the paperback edition (dimensions below) and obviously comes with a lovely
luxury hardcover to keep it in pristine condition. (I'll be adding a couple
of photos here when my copy arrives).
The other versions
available are eBook editions, though because there is a variety of
eBook readers out there and because not all support each others
formats, I've kept the price the same across the board @ £1.99 which is great
value for those on more of a budget or prefer to take a digital copy
around with them.
Here's the links
for all versions of the book;
Paperback Edition £12.99

extremely happy with the quality of both the paper and print quality
from lulu.com they certainly delivered on that front, the glossy cover

Gizmondo Book Update
Here's the latest update regarding the Gizmondo
book;
Firstly good news
in the fact the book is now complete, with the last checks being
completed and a proof copy being ordered on Monday. This proof copy
should take around a week or two at the most, then final checks
regarding fonts, size etc if all goes well then I'll let ordering
begin on the 1st November, with links and price confirmed at the time.
I'll also post some photo's of the
completed book on this website.
Lastly, here's the
final cover art for the book, it's close to what the rough design was
like a month ago, but with the blue grading adding some colour along
with proper logo and font in place, that's all for now, next time I'll
post It'll be to order!

Gizmondo Book Coming Soon!
I've been beavering away a few hours a week for
the last couple of months to release a Gizmondo book, It's not quite
finished yet but once it is I'll reveal more details here with price
and where to buy it from.
It's entitled 'Gizmondo
- The Machine' and will contain
obviously everything on this website, and a lot more besides,
including every game review, more detailed previews on the unreleased
games, facts, timeline, hardware, accessories and more, it's a more of
a keepsake for Gizmondo owners after the last of the websites go down
sometime in the future
It's been more
work than I originally thought, hence why I waited until closer the
time to announce it, the book itself is a full 100 colour pages of
Gizmondo goodness, with at first the paperback edition being sold,
then after Christmas I'll get around to converting it into a eBook
edition for Kindle etc.
I've tried to keep
the price down to a minimum, even though its full colour it still
won't cost the earth and it certainly will be cheaper than some of
those dedicated retro books, once I get the proof copy and confirm it
looks ok, then I'll reveal a set price, but I'm hoping I can keep it
down to £12.99.
100 full colour pages.
Redesigned layout & look for book.
100% Gizmondo.
No adverts!
Paperback edition launched 1st.
eBook edition to appear at a later date.
As I've stated I'm still working on the last
couple of sections, so by mid October it should be getting to the
final draft stage before ordering a proof copy to show off on here
before I let orders be taken early November.
Another unreleased Gizmondo game is put through
its paces, in this port from the 1997 PC classic, the object is to win
races, while mowing down pedestrians, cows and your opponents along
the way!
Check out what I thought in my GizCentral
review....---->

Completed but unreleased, can this jaunt into the
Vietnam jungle bring old gaming classics Rambo and Commando back into
the 21st Century?
How

Dodgy Innuendo aside, this strangely titled game

Doom Series Catch-Up
Whilst playing Doom on the Gizmondo I thought to myself I haven't actually tried
any other versions of Doom, so whilst the read me file of Gizdoom states that
Doom 2 and Heretic also work (very nicely too) but I also got the two episodes of
Final Doom working no problem either, to keep all the series on 1 SD card at
once just make a copy of the GizDoom folder and replace the Doom.wad for each
others respective wad file and locate each respective .exe in GizMenu.
GizDoom/DoomII/Final Doom/Hereticdownload
(requires shareware or full game wad files)
I've also added the respective icons for GizMenu
for the downloads added.
Scumm
Doom
Doom II
Heretic
Hexen
Final Doom
Don't forget to
change the controls in game so FF and RW are used as strafe buttons, so much easier!
also use the power icon as 'yes' when asked to exit the game.
To play Hexen you
have to install this seperate wince app below;
If using GizMenu
(which you should be by now!) place folder on SD card, load Hexen via GizMenu, it will load wince and return to
GizMenu, don't worry just exit GizMenu and the WinCE screen will appear again,
select your version of Hexen and select 'load', there is a couple of problems though,
firstly the screen is only 2/3 of the screen and secondly when you first load
up, bring up the cursor and centre it on screen to stop your automatic movement
when you first load it up, then clear your cursor and you should have pretty
normal control, not ideal, but its the only way to play this game on the Giz.

Brand New Downloads For Your Gizmondo in 2010!
Latest
ScummVM for
Gizmondo! v1.1.0 (dated 04/04/10)
download
This has
support for new games, 1 which is free (Drascula) on the Scumm download page.
Open Transport Tycoon 0.3.0f (dated 26/05/06)
download
I never uploaded this
latest release and its been
sitting on my drive since 2007! based on 0.6.0 it now runs in landscape mode,
though a problem with ecursors movement is not fine enough to target the main
icons on top, maybe someone out there can sort this out for us? I'm leaving
0.2.5 on the vault until this problem gets sorted.
Edit: If you hold '<<' while moving the cursor
it makes the movement finer enabling you to select all icons and
buttons now.
Plus 24 other downloads added to the GC DL
Vault this week (highlighted in red) more downloads
to be added next week.

Gizmondo
Games Live On!
Ok I might
have got your hopes up with that headline, it might not be what you
thought, it is infact a run down on some games that were released or unreleased for the Gizmondo that have been ported to other platforms.
Fastlane Steet Racing
- Aka - Chicane : Jenson Button Street Racing
Platform:
I-Phone/I-Pod Touch
Apart from
the name change and faster frame-rate, more lighting effects and tilt
control not a lot else has been added, that's not to say it's bad, far
from it, I was impressed at first but like most I-phone games, the
lack of proper controls annoys after a while and your be dying for
buttons and a D-Pad! For those interested it's currently only £0.59 in
the Appstore!
Due to be
released on the I-Phone/I-Pod Touch soon, ported by Team 3 games,
certainly has had change from the Giz/Nvidia demo game from 2005, this
port has upped the resolution and given the game a more 'solid' feel
with bold colours, should contain the same great game, though not too
sure about the colour scheme!
Rebel Onslaught
- Aka - Interstella Flames II
Platform:
I-Phone/I-Pod Touch
Ported by
Xen Games, the same guys who brought it to the Giz in the first place,
graphics and sound seem similar while only the tilt controls add any
real difference. For those interested it's currently only £0.59 in the
Appstore!
If you spot any Gizmondo
games on any other platforms, give us a mail and I'll add them to the
growing list of Gizmondo Ports!
