Aconcagua is a mountain of extreme contrasts. It's south side is nearly 3 kilometres of sheer rock, hanging glaciers and almost constant avalanches from precarious vertical seracs - an extreme challenge which attracts the world's best mountaineers. To the north west, however, there are a number of other non-technical more accessible routes leading all the way to the main north summit, the highest point in the western & southern hemisphere.
