About the Wirral Clinic
Ian Griffiths MSc DipAc MBAcC DipSpThera established his clinic in 1994. Previously called " Body in Balance " he changed the name
to " The Wirral Clinic " after moving to new larger premises in 2000.
His fascination with the body and how it works dates back to his days as a Professional Footballer, being the typical
player who received almost every injury one could imagine.
During those days good physiotherapists were hard to find, so it was while trying to rehabilitate his own injuries
that his curiosity got the better of him. He began reading anatomy books to understand what exactly was going on
in the body.
After eight years playing football in England he was given the opportunity to go and play in Japan, it was this
chance happening that led to his change of direction. From Western medical ideas to a more Traditional Chinese
perspective in the treatment and management of injuries.
Any treatment by the Medical practitioner in Japan was performed by acupuncture and massage, Ian found healing
rates to be far superior to that of any physiotherapy techniques he had encountered before.
He returned to England after two years in Japan determined to obtain suitable qualifications so that he could extend
his career. He embarked on a two year diploma course at the National Rehabilitation Centre studying the treatment
and management of injuries. Once qualified, he opened his clinic " Body in Balance " which dealt mainly
with musculo-skeletal problems. In 1998, after successfully completing a 4 year Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese
Acupuncture and Massage, he extended his clinic to incorporate acupuncture as the main part of his protocol.
As a result of the success of the clinic, it was necessary to relocate to newer larger premises. It was after relocating
he decided to change the name of the clinic to " The Wirral Clinic "
