Beatrice Mary Scott of Penmaenuchaf, Irrevocable Gift 1909
John Leigh Taylor who died 17 November 1908, bequeathed
most of his estate to daughter Beatrice Mary "for her own sole and separate and absolute use
and benefit". On 9 August 1909 she subsequently signed Penmaenuchaf and a large share
portfolio over to her husband, Colonel George Frederick Scott.The Probate papers give
the true gross value of the estate of John Leigh Taylor as £84,478 and 6 shillings. This is
less than the face value of the gifted shares alone so the market value may have been much
less than cost. Nonetheless, quite a nice nest egg! |
