Parliament Elections
Peter Robinson became First Minister of Northern Ireland in June
2008 following the retirement of Ian Paisley and Robinson's election
as leader of the DUP.
I n his speech to
the Northern Ireland Assembly following his appointment he said
"No-one knows better than we do, after a year operating within the
Executive, that there is no elevator that will take us to a
successful outcome. We will just have to take the staircase - step
by step by step."
He is married to
fellow Assembly Member and Member of Parliament Iris Robinson and
has three children.
