June Crawley (from Barmulloch, Glasgow) and Gina Donnachie (from
Viewpark, Uddingston) have survived their trek and have
arrived safely home. Neither of them are very sporty so it was an ideal
opportunity to set themselves a personal goal, while also raising money
to help fund life-saving research into the causes and treatment of heart
disease. This was a fantastic way for them to experience the
magnificence of the stunning Italian coastline. The walk took place
between 10th and 14th May 2007 in the Sorrento Peninsula and Amalfi
Coast in Italy. June and Gina had the full backing of all their family,
friends, work colleagues and weight watchers members. They dedicated
their walk to Gina's husband
John Donnachie
who died of cancer aged 44. John's death encouraged them both to take up
the challenge and prove that life is too short to miss out on
opportunities that they would never have dreamed of taking part in
before his death.
