Soggy Sping Bank Holiday, May 2011

A quick circuit of Hampshire and Wiltshire

Right on cue, the fine early summer weather has turned to British Standard Summer Weather for the Spring Bank Holiday. But I was getting cabin fever by this stage, so showers notwithstanding, I donned my new one-piece weatherproof suit and took myself off to Portsmouth - to see the USS George H W Bush in Holes Bay - then round in a loop through Winchester, Salisbury and Dorchester.

Sheltering under the plain trees in Salisbury market square, I noticed that my new motorcycle, sans top box, made an excellent picnic table - if you don't mind standing.

The 'Wiltshire pasty' promoted with much fanfare by the baker's shop in the background was dubious, but at least I found a kitchenware shop that sold coffee filter cones at last.

Teeth extractions this week and start of chemotherapy next; we'll see what effect that has on [the desire to go on] rides out for the next few months.

A 1300cc picnic table; just right for fast food.
