Flexing some work from a fine Friday to a rainy Saturday, I made time for another post- or pre-chemo treat; a nice run to Bristol, taking the swooping, looping A27 from Dorchester on the outward leg, and the twisty, turny B3092 from Frome to Sturminster Newton on the way back. But interesting roads and pretty countryside apart, a ride out, I find, is more enjoyable if there is an object, so I aimed to visit a shop recommended to me by fellow hat-fan, Ian Brogen from the APMP. I got myself a very nice brown Trilby, something I've been looking for for a while. The ladies in the delightfully hippy shop also took my number and promissed to call me if they came across a smoking cap, something else I've been looking out for since I got my new hair(less) style.
Bristol itself looked interesting - at least the urban villages on major routes outside of the city centre did. It looked like that's where all the hippies, urban trendies and slum dogs have all washed up and got mixed together. It's probably worth a bit more exploring, possibly in the car with Sue, and certainly with a satnav to find the way out again.
