The Guardian columns Islamophobia

The 18 August column in which Julie addressed what she perceived to be "mindless, ill-sorted Islamophilia" generated a large quantity of comment in the newspaper in which it was published:

on the following Wednesday
  • "I was extremely disappointed..."
  • on the following Thursday
  • "I feel racially abused..."
  • on the following Saturday
  • "Like equating western civilisation with Hitler..."
  • and to this website
  • "I am writing to express my outrage..."
  • and Julie's surprisingly gloat-free post-September 11 article
  • "Although I like saying 'I told you so'..." which talks not about Islam, but about the 'Islamofascists'
  • Then, finally an apology of sorts
  • "from now on, I'll call them fanatics.." which contrasts the evil of Osama Bin Laden with the purity of Kylie Minogue. Really.
