when the excellent Fawcett Library wrote to me asking whether, as a famous feminist intellectual, I would like to contribute my very first typewriter (which I got at the age of 11) or my original review (written at 17) of the Patti Smith LP Horses, which got me my very first writing job at the NME, I had to laugh.
