The Green Party putting people & the environment first. The Green Party has seen its vote increase, by addressing those issues which matter to people.
The Green Party recognises the demands society makes on our contryside, as communities grow and prosper. Sustainability is the key to modern culture. The need to enjoy the benefits of globalisation, the internet and cheap air travel without the need to destroy either our local or global environment.
Greens have consistently argued the need for measured housing development. New housing projects need to be away from Green Belt and the housing industry encouraged to recover brown sites.
Cambridgeshire is a wealthy area with a thriving economy in which houses are too expensive for many local people. Real progress means seeing that this wealth is fairly distributed, that all workers' rights are respected and that development is spread evenly to other areas.
The Green Party aims to achieve these goals by fielding more County Council candidates, who share our vision of a better future for all Cambridgeshire Residents: passing visitors, guest workers, students, short & long term residents alike.
The Green Party putting people & the environment first. Transport Solutions: Prams & Trams. Futures 2 & Rapid Transit
Public Transport is another issue which is critical. We have seen an explosion in car ownership and car use. Despite recent attempts to invest in public transport by both local & central government, this still does not offer a sufficiently attractive option to take cars off the road. A decisive strategy and targets to reduce car use need to be implemented if we are to meet set reductions in CO2 emissions..
A Safe Environment & Strong Communities
Real progress means a living countryside, clean rivers and beaches, fresh air and skies dark enough to see the stars at night. Real progress means strong communities with local jobs meeting local needs.
