Welcome to my world!

Foreword

As a relative newcomer to the world of VRML, in particular creating my own worlds, I have already seen how different graphics can affect performance depending on what hardware/software you have. In keeping with my philosophy of 'viewable by all' I have created two versions of my world, one for those who have some decent kit like hardware 3D renderers, fast processors, bags of memory, and good software (Netscape and Cosmo Player prefered), another one for those with less power. If using Cosmo Player, I recommend turning off the Headlight in Preferences to get the proper effect of the lighting in the scene. Follow the links at the bottom of the page to enter my world!

Some Featured Techniques

In creating my first world, Pepperland, I also learned a few things about the software I was using, namely CosmoWorlds. Listed below are some of the cool things I used in the editor.

  • Polygon copier to eliminate unecessary polygons
  • PEP normal doctor to alter smoothness appearance of polygons in an object
  • PEP normal doctor to change which direction triangles 'face'
  • Culling of backfacing triangles
  • Colour blending between vertices
  • Texture applicator: rotating, scaling, and texture positioning models
