JdeBP's Ceroc events list 2007

Here are the events (freestyles, opening nights, balls, &c.) for 2007 that I know about.

As always, this is my list. You won't find Manchester, or London, or Scotland events here. I'm not concerned with those. Someone else can list them.

If something is not on here, it's because no-one has told me about it. Some franchises are well organized, with detailed schedules supplied up to a year in advance. (Step forward and bow, Ceroc Nantwich, Ceroc South Birmingham, and JiveFever Coventry.) Some franchises have non-functional web sites but have have regular flyers with calendars for the next two months that I can pick up whenever I'm around. Some franchises are disorganized, with non-functional web sites, and no calendars of forthcoming events over the coming months.

It's also the day before the birthday of one of my friends. It's the same friend as last year and, amazingly, she is still my friend. She intends to start the celebration after the freestyle, which will be just as her birthday begins. She's definitely going to get the bumps this year. ☺

According to the number of bumps that we gave her, she was 17 this year.

Sunday January the 7th Ceroc Kidderminster Blues and Latin workshop. More details when Debbie Two sends them to me.

Saturdary April the 21st

Ceroc Solihull freestyle at the LandRover Social Club (Previously scheduled for 2007-04-28.)

Friday April the 27th

Utopia Evesham at the Evesham Public Hall. Debbie Two informed me that Phil and Yuko were teaching this evening, but unfortunately only at 6 hours' notice, which meant that I couldn't put that information up here in time.

It's also a Cinderella Night at Ceroc Halesowen.

Saturday April the 28th

The Ceroc Solihull freestyle originally scheduled for today has been moved to 2007-04-21.

Luckily, we don't have to stay at home and watch Doctor Who, because of the Ceroc Walsall freestyle at the Town Hall

Addendum: Well, it turns out that Doctor Who would have been the correct choice. Once again, we turn up to a Ceroc Midlands freestyle only to find that it has been cancelled, the doors are shut, and there's no notice whatsoever.

Sunday April the 29th CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club
Thursday May the 3rd

Several venues are closed today because they are being used as polling stations for the local council elections. These include JiveFever Coventry, and Ceroc Bromsgrove. However, Ceroc Rugby, Ceroc Northampton, and Ceroc Kidlington are all officially open. If a venue isn't mentioned here, I haven't been told about it. So double-check with your venue. (See alternative venues for Thursday.)

After receiving reassurances from Michaella Walker of Ceroc Central that Ceroc Rugby would be open, I drove there only to find that it was being used as a polling station. It wouldn't have been bad if I were on my own. But I had brought people with me. "I've been told that Rugby is open as usual.", I had told them.

Friday May the 4th

JiveFever Coventry freestyle at the Jaguar Social Club

Amir's birthday celebrations commence at Ceroc Halesowen this evening. Maja is planning a special Intermediate routine, she says.

Saturday May the 5th

Ceroc Wythall freestyle at the Park Hall.

Sunday May the 6th CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club
Monday May the 7th

Ceroc Royal Leamington Spa et al. closed this week (See alternative venues for Monday.)

Debbie Two is organizing a Ceroc Worcester Bank Holiday Monday freestyle at the Bosa Nova Wine Bar. There will be no classes, just pure freestyle. There is free car parking at the end of the road, apparently, so one need not use the NCP car park.

I've already made prior arrangements to be at Wellingborough, however. It's a tough decision, though. I haven't done a Debbie Two event in a while. But I don't get to do Wellingborough often, either.

Friday May the 11th Ceroc Leicester freestyle at the Braunston Civic Centre
Saturday May the 12th

A choice:

Ceroc UK says that there's a Ceroc Wolverhampton freestyle at the J11 Club this evening. But Mike doesn't list one. Given what happened last time that a Ceroc Midlands freestyle was advertised, I suggest taking this with a heavy pinch of salt.

Sunday May the 13th

One of my friends is holding a party. ☺

Friday May the 18th

Utopia Evesham at the Evesham Public Hall

Sunday May the 20th CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club

Utopia Evesham at the Evesham Public Hall

I've promised My Mates Lieanne and Marie that we'll be doing the Cinderella Night at Ceroc Halesowen, however.

Ceroc Midlands weekender at Hafany Mor, near Pwllheli. (Gender balanced weekender. Dancing from 10:00 until 04:00 every night.)

Friday June the 22nd

The Utopia Evesham at the Evesham Public Hall that was previously scheduled for today has been cancelled. There is a new freestyle tomorrow, instead.

JiveFever Coventry freestyle at the Jaguar Social Club

Saturday June the 23rd

Ceroc Kidderminster freestyle at the town hall

This is not a "Pulse" event, because there are no workshops. There will be two rooms, though, a main room and a Utopia room.

Doors open 19:45, evening starts at 20.00. Utopia room opens "at approx 22.30 or when 150 people are through the doors which ever is earlier". (I think that they want us to come early. ☺) Dancing until somewhere between 01.00 and 02.00. (The traditional format is for the main room to close between 01:00 and 01:30 and the Utopia room to close at 02:00. So that's my guess.) £10.00 on the door or £8 in advance at a venue or on-line (using PayPal).

There's a rumour going around that this event has been cancelled. It has not. I've checked this with three different sources, including Debbie Two and Dave.

Friday June the 29th Cinderella night (evening extended until 00:00) at Ceroc Halesowen this evening. Apparently it's Laura's birthday, so dance with the Birthday Girl.
Saturday June the 30th

A choice:

  • Ceroc Daventry "Dirty Dancing" freestyle at the Leisure Centre (Doors open at 20:00. Dancing until 03:00. Two rooms. Workshops from 11:30 – 17:30. £25, in advance only, for workshops and freestyle. £11, on the door, for freestyle only.)

  • Ceroc Burton-on-Trent freestyle at the Town Hall

Ceroc Royal Leamington Spa Intermediate workshop
Sunday July the 1st CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club
Friday July the 6th Ceroc Halesowen closed this evening because the Cornbow Hall is being used for a pantomime. There is an extra Cinderella evening on 2007-07-20 to compensate.
Saturday July the 7th

A choice:

Friday July the 13th

A choice:

Ceroc Halesowen closed this evening because the Cornbow Hall is being used for a pantomime. There is an extra Cinderella evening on 2007-07-20 to compensate.
Saturday July the 14th

Ceroc Nantwich freestyle at the Nantwich Civic Hall

Sunday July the 15th CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club
Friday July the 20th

A choice:

Friday July the 27th Cinderella night (evening extended until 00:00) at Ceroc Halesowen this evening.
Sunday July the 29th

A choice:

It's a shame that these clash. But it's no-one's fault that they do.

Saturday August the 4th

Ceroc Sutton Coldfield freestyle at the Jaguar Social Club

Sunday August the 5th CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club
Friday August the 10th

Ceroc Halesowen closed this evening. (I didn't know myself until this afternoon. I've updated this as soon as I arrived home from work.) So I'm going to go and give Morris and Judith a look. I've never actually been there.

Saturday August the 11th

Ceroc Nantwich freestyle at the Nantwich Civic Hall

Today is also the day of Dave Cooling's housewarming party and (I am led to believe.) Sam's birthday party.
Friday August the 17th

Utopia Evesham at the Evesham Public Hall

Saturday August the 18th

A choice:

Yes, you sharp-eyed people. The silver is in a different place this time.

And if that isn't enough:

Today is also the day of "Wobbly Dave"'s (Don't ask. I have no idea why.) Annual Barbecue from 15:00 onwards. It is claimed that there will be "DJ and Dancing".

Winnie is also holding a dinner/dance at the Chung Ying Gardens Chinese Restaurant this evening. Tickets in advance only.

I get the feeling that today is the 1 day designated "Summer" for this year.

Sunday August the 19th

CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club

It has been cancelled. Unfortunately, the social club has been double-booked by someone else. But you can always try:

Ceroc Bedford freestyle at the Addison Centre MK42 8DD (Dancing from 17:45 to 22:15.)

Friday August the 24th

JiveFever Coventry freestyle at the Jaguar Social Club

The Morris and Judith Charity Dance previously scheduled for today, and listed on their old leaflets, has been moved to 2007-08-25.

Saturday August the 25th

A choice:

Monday August the 27th

As per usual form for Bank Holidays, most venues apart from these are closed this week.

Ceroc Worcester Bank Holiday Monday freestyle at the Bosa Nova Wine Bar.

Friday August the 31st

Utopia Evesham at the Evesham Public Hall

There's some confusion over the Utopia dates. Some are listed on the Utopia web site, but others are only listed on the Ceroc Kidderminster web site. You'll find that the Utopia web site doesn't list today, for example. There will be an event this evening. I've checked in person with Debbie Two. The confusion is caused because some of Debbie's Evesham events are ordinary Ceroc freestyles and are not under the Utopia banner.

It's also a Cinderella Night at Ceroc Halesowen this evening.

Saturday September the 1st

A choice:

  • Ceroc Kidderminster "Pulse" workshops and Ball at the town hall (Workshops from 13:00: Advanced (Alex), Freestyle Fundamentals (Mark and Rachel), and Jive/Cha Cha (Debbie Two). Evening freestyle 18:00 until 02:00. Tickets £30 all day and £10 evening only.)

It's not on the web site, but on the flyer it states that the evening freestyle is to be a Masquerade Ball. So it's time to dig out the mask that I almost used at the last such ball I suppose. ☺

  • Ceroc Stoke-on-Trent "Party in the Potteries #4" at the Kings Hall (Workshops from 11:0016:30 by 'H', Mark Forster, Maja Hoddell, and Marie Nolan. Evening freestyle 18:00 until 00:00. Tickets £2517.5 for all classes plus freestyle, £1512 for freestyle only.)

The presence of Mark's, Maja's, and Marie's names on the Ceroc Midlands flyer that I have for this event appears to be an error. I am reliably informed that Mark is teaching and DJing for the whole day at Pulse, and will not be whizzing up the M5 and the M6 mid-afternoon to teach at the Party in the Potteries as the flyer states. Furthermore: The Ceroc Midlands web page now states that there will be just the one workshop, by 'H'. It appears that most of the rest of the day has been cancelled since the flyer was printed.

Sunday September the 2nd

CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club

Friday September the 7th

Morris and Judith Charity Dance at the St Mary's Church Centre

Saturday September the 8th

A choice:

Sunday September the 9th

Ian's birthday party.

Before that, there's also a charity afternoon, from 12:00 onwards, at the Black Boy Hotel, Bewdley in aid of Diabetes U.K., Autism, and Acorns Children's Hospice. Debbie Two will be teaching a 3 move Ceroc class.

(I was originally told just "the Black Boy Hotel". I looked and found quite a few Black Boy Hotels around the place — in Sudbury, in Caernarfon, in Newtown, and in Suffolk. There was also one in Nottingham until the 1960s. I was also originally told "dibiates uk", "artism", and "arcorns". The spelling corrections and hyperlinks are my interpretations of those. ☺ )

Ceroc Burton-on-Trent is holding a busk in Cooper's Square today.

Friday September the 14th

Utopia Evesham at the Evesham Public Hall

Saturday September the 15th

Sunday October the 21st

CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club

Friday October the 26th

A choice:

It's also a Cinderella Halloween Night at Ceroc Halesowen this evening, which makes it a difficult choice for me, because there's someone at Halesowen that I'd like Lieanne to meet. The choice became easier when it transpired that Lieanne will be busy with her boyfriend this weekend. ☺

Saturday October the 27th

A choice:

Tonight is also the opening night of a certain play in which one of my friends is performing. I realize that it's a tough choice, Dave, but it's either tonight or tomorrow night, really. And this is the opening night.

Monday October the 29th

Opening night of Ceroc Hednesford at the Aquarius Ballroom (Admission £5 for the opening night)

Sunday November the 4th

CDC Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club

Steve requests that there be no fireworks. The club's management will object.

Ceroc Solihull freestyle at the LandRover Social Club

Sunday November the 18th

A choice:

Friday November the 23rd

Morris and Judith Charity Dance at the St Mary's Church Centre This has been rescheduled to the following day.

Yes, the national Ceroc web site says that there's a Utopia Evesham on this evening, as does the Ceroc Kidderminster web site. However, today isn't on the revised and up-to-date list of Utopia dates that I obtained directly from Debbie Two herself last month, when I noticed and asked her about an earlier error on the Ceroc Kidderminster web site, when the 2007-11-11 freestyle was listed on the wrong day. Dave Hardwick tells me that he's going. I advise telephoning Debbie Two to check.

Saturday November the 24th

A choice:

Thursday November the 29th

So go and enjoy the last Cinderella Night of 2007 at Ceroc Halesowen.

A choice;

Saturday December the 22nd

Ceroc Sutton Coldfield freestyle at the Jaguar Social Club

This is the first time that Sutton Coldfield has had a December freestyle. The Jaguar Social club is always decked out with all of the trimmings over Christmas. It's going to be fun having an actual freestyle with the decorations up. Mmmmm! Scampi, chips, and tinsel.

Sunday December the 23rd

CDC Christmas Tea Dance at the Lickey End Working Men's Social Club (18:00–22:00. Tickets in advance only.)

Tuesday December the 25th

Ceroc Nantwich, Ceroc Wythall, all Ceroc Midlands venues, and all Ceroc Kidderminster venues are closed this week.

(It should be pretty obvious that no venue will be open today. But Ceroc Nantwich was the only franchise that was organized enough to actually inform me right from the start of the year. ☺ Betty and Malcolm Bragg came second in the organized venue stakes. They told me about Wythall in October.)

Wednesday December the 26th

Ceroc Sutton Coldfield, all Ceroc Midlands venues, and all Ceroc Kidderminster venues are closed today.

However, Alan Scott is organizing a Ceroc Kidderminster walk around the Clent hills today.
