Grandad's father was a Leading Stoker, based in 1881 at HMS Pembroke at Chatham and in 1901 he was living at Dover working on a Mail boat. Great-Grandad's father-in-law was a Greenwich Pensioner living in 1881 at Gillingham but born in Plymouth. Grandad joined the Navy in 1900 aged 16. He served throughout the Great War before leaving the Navy in 1923. A maritime heritage not shared by me!
