Welcome to
Richard Johnston's
personal website

No fancy graphics - time is too short -

I am English - as you will see from my spelling - with the doubtful privilege of having been educated in Mathematics to PhD level at the Universities of Oxford and Manchester, England. I therefore see issues in a very analytical, "top down, in the whole" way. The exercise of careful analytical logic is a sure road to unpopularity in this present age of sound bites (or is it sound bytes?), and emotionally driven, reactive, popularist, economics-dominated, politics.

Bring back rational thought!
There are spiritual, moral, political and social values that transcend "market economics":
"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God"

I am interested in a wide range of subjects and issues, from running a 1956 Austin A30 car, through the local history of Yateley Hampshire where I have lived since 1974, town and country planning, transport problems (on which I was formerly employed in research), architecture, languages, biblical exegesis, to science, economics and contemporary political and social questions.

Above all I am interested in truth and reality.

CHRISTIAN PUBLICATIONS
I aim to publish carefully researched
Christian material on general issues
for thoughtful, prayerful meditation, not hasty on-line reading.
The papers often deal with controversial or neglected questions.
The site does not represent the overall balance of my opinions!
