FAMILY TREES R H Johnston
DISCLAIMER
All information has been given in good faith, but there are many
omissions, and there may be errors, for which I apologise.
GENERAL LAYOUT
The General Family chart can be the starting point for general studies,
but it will usually be easier to use the other system, which can be
fconfigured so that the relationships are given relative to that person
(yourself, perhaps).
The information in the "Full tree" listing is laid out as a traditional family
tree but on its side. For a given column, the people at the top of a given
family list are earlier than those further down. Following each person is
his/her spouse and children at the next tab indent, and so on.
For the SINGLE SURNAME mode the location will be in the same tree if the
surname is unchanged, or at the next LEVEL down if not.
For the DESCENDANCY mode, the family of the spouse will be found at the
next LEVEL of trees down. To avoid unnecessary duplication, the details of
that part of the spouse's family which is already given in a higher LEVEL tree
are not repeated.
The charts for Descendancy, and Ancestors are self evident.
