Dennistoun New Parish Church History

2006:
With the help of Interim Moderator/Minister Rev. Dr. Gordon A. McCracken Dennistoun Central and Dennistoun Blackfriars were moving towards a union of the congregations.

2007:
On 26th April there was a union between Dennistoun Central and Dennistoun Blackfriars congregations, with the new congregation to be known as Dennistoun New Parish Church.

2008:
In March it was decided to choose the Whitehill Street building (formerly Blackfriars) as the building to renovate and be used in the future as the church building. The renovation works should take about two years and in the meantime the building will be closed to worship (at the end of May) and the Armadale Street building (formerly Central) will be used for worship and by organizations, till the works are completed.

At the Sunday service on the 11th May, Rev Ian McInnes who preached as sole nominee was voted for by a vast majority of the congregation members to be our new minister.

The Whitehill Street building held it's last service for at least two years on Sunday 25th May when the building was officially closed for renovation, subject to grants being awarded.

On Thursday 12th June at 7.00pm there was an induction service for the Rev Ian McInnes in the Armadale Street building, which was enjoyed by everyone present.

The Minister Rev. Ian McInnes conducted his introductory service on Sunday 15th June.

A Presentation and Social Evening was held to welcome Rev. Ian McInnes and his wife Liz on the 31st August, a presentation was also given to Rev. Gordon McCracken and his wife Jess who attended the evening as well.
