Snowdonia

Snowdonia is one of my most favorite places in Britain, so it gets its own area.

A walk up Snowdon is something everyone should do at least once in their life.  Snowdon has at least seven well laid out paths, all leading to the Snowdon Hotel on the Summit.  See the link for further details of each of the paths.

As well as the Snowdon trails, there's also some easier walks for those who don't like heights, or are are not quite so fit.

Precipice Walk

An easy walk which only take 90 minutes.  It provides amazing views over the Ganllwyd Valley and Mawddach estuary with the river 800 feet below.

Aberglaslyn Walk

A beautiful walk of about 9 miles, which starts at Beddgelert.  This could take over 4 hours to complete, so goot walking boots and waterproofs are needed.

Torrent Walk

A very easy riverside walk, that starts two miles east of Dolgellau.

I believe the best place to stay when visiting Snowdon is Beddgelert.  It's a lovely village with a sad dog story, but more importantly, there's several good hotels to eat, drink, or stay at, so you can eat and drink in a different bar each evening.
