Beddgelert: Llyn Dinas and Aberglaslyn Pass
Moderate, 9 miles.
Reportedly, one of the most beautiful walks of Snowdonia, warmer and lusher,
on the sheltered south side of Snowdon. Excellent May June flowering
Rhododendrons, riversides, meadows, lanes, hillsides, some wet meadows.
Waterproof footwear essential

(1) From Beddgelert car park, walk down village street away from Royal Goat
Hotel.
(2) Before road bridge over river, turn right along road beside river. Cross
footbridge at end of this road and bear left beside river.
(3) Follow path alongside river, climb stile, and walk down lane and track
following the course of the river. Pass copper mine. Llyn Dinas is reached.
(4) Follow clearly defined path alongside lake, over the hill, and then
beside wood. Cross meadows and go past farm (5) At end of driveway (6), turn
right onto single track lane.
Follow the lane for about 3 miles, passing an old
quarry and then a farm house on an S bend. Shortly after, a wooden footbridge is
seen on the right.
(7) Pass through a gap in the low stone wall and walk across the meadow to
this bridge.
(8) Cross and walk to the left end of the barn seen ahead. Follow the track
up through the oak woods.
(9) At the top of the hill keep to the wall, got through gate and follow the
old cart track.
(10) Passing ruined farm buildings, follow the stony track up the hill. At
brow of hill a gate is seen to the left across the meadow. Make for this, go
through and follow the paving stones up the hill.
(11) Go through the farmyard and join the farm road running downhill. (If the
llamas are here, ignore them - they’re harmless if left alone.)
(12) Where the farm roads meets the lane, turn right. Go through village of
Nantmor and (13) walk along main road for a short distance, turning into car
park with information point and toilets. Climb old railway embankment and walk
trough tunnel (14), which is very dark. The ground is even, but it can be
avoided by diverting at the entrance along a path which rejoins the route at the
far end after some scrambling.
(15) Cross the footbridge and turn right. Follow the marker posts across the
water meadows to Beddgelert.
