Gentlemen,

May I first take this opportunity to express the gratitude of our Association to my predecessor, Martyn Dolby, for his generosity in personally funding the acquisition of a new and updated presidential chain of office, which I and sure future Presidents will wear with tremendous pride. I would also like to pay tribute to to the commitment he showed to the County during his year of office, and hope that I will be able to come to somewhere near the standard he displayed. Naturally, being Lincolnshire born and bred, it is a great honour to have been elected to this high office, and I thank my club, Scotter B.C., for my nomination.

The 2007 Season on the green was a huge disappointment for our county team, but during my two years on the Presidential Ladder I have attended all the Midland League and Middleton Cup matches and have seen enough to convince me that we have in our County the talent to compete at a very high level. I am sure that the new managerial and selection system will bring out the best in our players.

The members of our Executive Committee, and especially John Fulcher, have been extremely helpful during these last two years and I look forward to working with them to enhance the fortunes of our Association.

I am also looking forward to meeting and enjoying the company of all those who support the County Presidential and Friendly Matches.

May I wish all of you a very enjoyable 2008 season with good health. I have already ordered the hot sunny weather, and am mildly confident that this is the one aspect of my Presidency in which I will do better than Martyn did.
