Help  Required

The English Bowling Associations Charity Trust exists mainly  to help the less fortunate than ourselves

whether it be men or lady bowlers, or their dependents, the trust is there in time of need.

Whenever possible the trust also aims to help blind  or otherwise disabled  bowlers improve their quality

of life.

Lastly, when funds permit, the trust tries to help other charitable organizations alleviate hardship.

HELP REQUIRED

Patrons are required throughout the Country to organise a rink and participate in the

Trust’s Charity Games and assist with collections at Major Championships.

The following Organisations are regular supporters of Charity Trust Matches:

Barbarians

Bowls England.

English Indoor Bowling Association

English Women’s Indoor Bowling Association.

English Bowling Federation

Francis Drake Fellowship

English Players Association

Dennyside Bowling Association

Indoor & Outdoor County Associations.

County Vice Presidents Associations.

British Wheelchair Bowlers Association

Whilst we carryout a policy of strict confidentiality it is acceptable that we can mention how the

Charity distributes it’s finances.

It has been the recent policy of the Patrons to help such causes where we can be assured that

aid is not used to pay for administration costs.

Several grants have been paid towards the cost of wheelchairs for amputees.

Assistance was given towards a ‘surgical bed’.

Aid was given to help a family with funeral expenses.

Several Counties and Clubs informed Patrons of members in need, these were duly

considered and responded to sympathetically.

Charity Trust Report 2007

At the end of another year, the Trust is again able to say that it has made a difference to some bowlers and their dependants.

We are happy to have been able to make grants to enable bowlers who through illness, disability or hardship have required assistance to continue to participate in our sport. We have also assisted bowlers and/or their families, when illness has caused additional expenses which are difficult to meet.

Although we have a National Health Service whose motto was free from the cradle to the grave, it is ever apparent that charities such as the Charity Trust are very necessary to provide
support and financial comfort at difficult times.

Once again the Trustees would appeal to Clubs or Individuals to become members of the Trust;
a Club can become a member for a donation of £100 and an individual can become a Patron for a payment of £50. All donations go straight to boost the Trust's finances. The Trust would also remind incoming Presidents, of both the Indoor and Outdoor game, whether National , County or Club, if you are looking for a charity to support, you can do no better than the English Bowling Associations Charity Trust.
We would also appeal to Clubs and Counties to organise Charity events and donate the funds raised to the Trust; fellow bowlers who fall on hard times would appreciate your help.
For the second year running we held a successful bucket collection at Worthing and Nottingham at the National Championships and will continue to do so at venues where the collection does not clash with other charitable events.

On the other side of the coin, the Trust is always open to consider applications for assistance, through Club or County. The request for help will remain confidential and an answer will be given as soon as possible.

Finally, may I give the Trust's thanks to two retiring Trustees, Michael Swatland and Roni Williams. Michael was Chairman, until I took over last year, and Roni has served for several years. A big thank you to them both for their work, I'm sure both will continue to take an interest in the Trust in the future
