John's

Wanted

Sodastream plastic bottles in smaller sizes e.g. 0.5 or 0.75 litre

Free stuff

Freecyclers please note: I update this list as people ask for things so please check it (click Refresh/Reload on your browser) to see if it's still around before asking.

I also add things to this list as I decide to get rid of them so it's worth checking for stuff I haven't got round to emailing Freecycle about yet!

17" Iyama computer monitor

It's a CRT (like your granny used to have on her old Windows98 PC)

Iyama monitors were highly rated for good crisp images. This one's got a bunch of BNC connectors on the back for various sorts of RGB-type inputs, besides the usual high-density 15-pin-in-a-D9 shell VGA connector.

Bush internet TV with remote

Uses dial-up connection to Virgin (apparently - haven't used it). Remote opens up to (small) QWERTY keyboard

Car radio/cassette Philips 751

not sure if cassette works

Detail sander (needs attention)

sander plate screw fixings have come away from machine - could probably be refitted by drilling through and fitting new screws

Pop rivet kit (gun and selection of rivets in plastic case). Probably OK with the small size rivets supplied but the tool isn't up to setting bigger diameter rivets.
Door handles - brass (plated) Victorian(?) style lever type
Denso tape

grease-filled fabric tap applied to metal pipe to be buried in ground or floor screed (not for use with gas pipe)

Right angle electric drill chuck adapter (screws in between chuck and drill)
Rat trap
Auro organic paints and finishes

various tins, some with labels missing, plus a sample kit of floor waxes

Woodwash finishes
  • "frosted birch" (off-white)
  • "olive wood" (greenish)
Sugar soap
Shell 'Super Grip' Lino Adhesive

ancient - no idea if it's any good

Synthaprufe

ancient - no idea if it's any good

Cement dye - black
Central heating circulators (pumps)

variety of used but working pumps, suitable for garden water features (with protection & safe electrical connections) or no-cost replacement to keep a system going that's due for replacement soon

Draining boards

for Belfast/butler sink

smaller one TAKEN

Laboratory apparatus stand and Bunsen burner
'Eclipse' automatic centre punch with odd tip

(originally intended for pushing wire-wrap stakes into prototyping PCBs)

could be re-ground to a point

Car jacks. One is for a Renault 4, the other a generic type. The handle for the Renault jack doubles as the car's wheelnut spanner, and even as a starter handle on early models where the 6 Volt battery wasn't always up to starting the car! The generic jack handle is a cranked rod with a hook on the end that engages with the eye in the end of the jack (but is currently missing).
Oil filter, FRAM PH-5115 (Crosland 2072?) for Vauxhall 2.0 litre "high and raised performance) engines

If I can find it ... I'm sure it's around somewhere ...

Shower screen

2-panel folding type to go over one end of bath. Flower pattern on glass.

Wired glass

Three sheets, each 300mm x 1025mm x 6mm thick

Huge windows

6 windows, approx 2m x 1.2m with (rather dilapidated) wooden frames.

These are most likely to be of interest, maybe just for the glass, to someone building a greenhouse to military specifications.

Each comprises a wooden frame with two leaves of glass about 6mm thick, the sheets being about 60mm apart (so, double glazed but more like acoustic than thermal insulation). One sheet is the full size, the other is split into two sheets, one approx 1500mm high and the other about 300mm with a glazing bar between.

A large heavy duty van or trailer and large heavy duty muscle required to move. (Help available at this end.)

'Spur' (type) metal shelving brackets (shown) and uprights (all in white). Many different sizes: please ask for what you want.

Also a large industrial/commercial type floor-standing shelf + brackets + steel shelves. The frame is of 2 'L' shaped steel box sections? about 2m tall with slotted holes in the uprights to take shelf support brackets at various heights. They're a bit rusty since they've been outside for ages. The shelves are about 200mm deep by 900 wide.

Caravan table leg: for a table hinged to a wall at one side; the leg folds flat underneath the table when not in use and swings down to support it when needed.

Will bring tears of excitement to any caravan-lover.

Lamp for slide projector or OHP (not sure what)

600Watts

breaking DeWalt DW933 jigsaw

... broken actually: the blade-locking mechanism - a horribly fiddly affair even when working - is now siezed solid. A replacement part would cost almost half as much as a brand-new, superior machine.

SAFELY (sic) plugs.

Annoy adults who have to use the sockets by making them try to pry these plastic nuisances out first, whilst giving no more protection than is built-in to socket outlets made to British Standards which specify that they must have shutters that prevent children poking anything into the live terminals.

An excellent complement to anyone's collection of chocolate teapots, or as a sop to the Health & Safety mafia and over-anxious parents.

Slot-in light pendant/hanger for heavy lamps.

Just the job for that chandelier you've always wanted to swing on. Don't forget to fasten it securely into some ceiling laths with an old No 6 screw, or even two.

Plug-in light pendants (2 sets, one spare base) with 3-core flex
Metal surface-mounting electrical accessory boxes: double and one single, and a metal-clad double 13A outlet which doesn't fit the boxes.

Hey, what do you expect, this is Freecycle! You'd pay money for rubbish like this at B&Q.

Actual colour usually appears darker than in the photograph: I think the camera's flash has made them look lighter.

Pair contemporary style bath taps. Chrome with gold trim. Used but in good condition. Ceramic disc mechanisms - 3/4" size (unlike many cheap bath taps which have standard 1/2" mechanisms) so will give good flow from low pressure supplies.

Geotextile non-woven polyethylene/polypropylene mesh

This is a strong fabric which is water-permeable but keeps out soil, sand etc.

It can be used for lining the bottom of sandpits so that they drain but don't allow soil to mix with the sand.

It is sometimes used to protect grass from building materials being stood on top.

Another use is under a bed of stones or gravel under a driveway or path to prevent the stones migrating into the soil below (or where a temporary driveway is laid over grass).

It can be used as a filter to allow water through while keeping back solid particles (e.g.in outdoor water features), or even for air as a filter material for a vacuum cleaner.

Can also use it to sandwich thick polythene sheet to make pond liner.

I have about 15-20m left from a 25m roll.

If you're interested in buying some or all of this please contact me to agree a price.
