Senior Network Analyst

Employed by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young at their Vauxhall Site, where I support Westminster City Council's local and wide area network.

I started my career in computing back in 1971, when I joined Westminster City Council as a trainee computer operator. The council was running an ICL/450 batch processing mainframe. Data input was punched card and paper tape.

Later the ICL was replaced by a UNIVAC 1106 mainframe with remote access terminals. This gave me my first experience of networking.

As the network expanded, the Univac was replaced by an IBM 3090 with an SNA network.

In 1991 I was presented with a 20 year long service award by the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Dame Shirley Porter. I chose a video recorder as my gift.

In December 1992 the Council outsourced the IT support to ITnet.

ITnet's contract with Westminster City Council ended on 31st January 2003, and staff transfered to Capgemini, who now have a 10 year contract to supply the IT support.
